In short: you must be at least 13. Keep your account safe, post only what you have the right to and what our Community Guidelines allow, and remember that your profile is public. You own your content, and you let us host and show it. If you break the rules we can remove content or accounts, and we tell you why and how to appeal.

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and sov.gg ("we", "us"). They apply when you visit sov.gg, create an account or publish a profile. Our Community Guidelines and Copyright Policy are part of these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.

2. Who can use sov.gg

  • You must be at least 13 years old. If you're under the age at which you can agree to these terms yourself in your country, a parent or guardian must agree to them for you.
  • You can't use sov.gg if the law forbids it, or if we've closed an account of yours for breaking these terms.
  • If you use sov.gg for an organisation, you confirm that you're allowed to accept these terms for it.

3. Your account

  • Give accurate details, keep your password secret, and use two-factor authentication if you can. You're responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at once at support@sov.gg if you think someone else has got into it.
  • One account is for one person or organisation. Don't share, sell or transfer accounts.
  • Usernames. Usernames go to whoever claims them first, except names we reserve. We may change or take back a username that impersonates someone, infringes a trademark, misleads people, or is held only to be sold. Usernames can't be sold or traded.

4. Your content

  • It stays yours. You own what you put on sov.gg: text, images, audio, video, links and settings.
  • What you let us do with it. So we can run sov.gg, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, adapt (for example resize, compress, transcode or crop for previews), display and send your content: to show your profile to its visitors and in link previews when it's shared, and to run, secure and improve sov.gg. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups until they expire, copies the law requires us to keep, and content others have already shared. We won't use your content in our advertising without asking you.
  • Your responsibility. You confirm that you have the rights to everything you upload, including music, images, video and fonts, and that it follows the law and our Community Guidelines. Music on your profile must be yours, licensed to you, or otherwise allowed by law.

5. What you may not do

Besides what our Community Guidelines rule out, you may not:

  • break, probe or get around sov.gg's security, limits or Premium checks;
  • overload sov.gg, or scrape it with automated tools, apart from what search engines do;
  • fake or inflate profile views, by bots or otherwise;
  • use sov.gg to send people to malware, phishing or scams, or to hide where a link really goes;
  • copy, decompile or resell sov.gg's software or design, except where the law allows it.

6. Other people's content and services

Profiles link to other websites and can show posts from X. Those belong to others and come under their terms; we're not responsible for them. This includes websites with adult (18+) content: sov.gg doesn't host adult content, but profiles may link to lawful adult websites if the link is marked 18+ and follows our Community Guidelines. You're responsible for the links you add and for following the laws that apply to you, and we may remove a link or a profile that breaks the rules. The question before an 18+ link is a confirmation, not an age check. Signing in with Discord comes under Discord's terms as well as ours.

7. Premium

  • Premium unlocks extra features for the account it's on.
  • You can buy Premium, for yourself or as a gift, or get it with a code. Buying comes under our Terms of Sale, which say what it costs, how you pay and why every sale is final: there are no refunds, for any purchase. You must be 18 or older to buy.
  • Premium is one payment and lasts for as long as sov.gg runs. Nothing renews.
  • A code starts Premium on an account that doesn't have it, and never adds time to one that does. A code can be redeemed once per account (some codes work for several accounts), has no cash value, and can't be sold or swapped. We may cancel codes that were obtained by fraud, or resold.
  • The features Premium includes may change as sov.gg develops. We'll tell you before taking away a significant one.
  • If a payment for Premium is charged back, disputed or reversed, the Premium it paid for is paused and the account that made the payment is banned. Appeals about this go to support@sov.gg and are decided by the owner.
  • If we close your account for breaking these terms, its Premium ends with it, without a refund.
  • Payments are handled by payment services that apply their own terms at checkout, as the Terms of Sale explain.

8. How we moderate

  • Finding problems. Anyone can report a profile or content, with the form or by email to legal@sov.gg. Our staff review reports and may find problems themselves. We may use automated tools to detect spam, harmful links and other abuse.
  • Hidden while we review. When an email to legal@sov.gg links to a profile, that profile is hidden automatically until a person has reviewed the report, so that content which may be illegal doesn't stay up in the meantime. Being hidden isn't a finding that you broke a rule. A person then restores the profile or decides what else to do: every lasting decision to remove content or restrict an account is made by a person.
  • What we may do. Depending on how serious it is, whether it was deliberate, and your history, we may: remove or hide content; hide a profile; limit features; remove Premium; take back a username; suspend or close an account; and report illegal content to the authorities. Where it's reasonable, we warn first.
  • Telling you why. When we act on your content or account, we tell you what we did, why, which rule or law it's based on, and whether it was done automatically, unless the law forbids it or the content is spam.
  • Appeals. If you think we got it wrong, reply to our message or write to support@sov.gg within six months. Someone not involved in the first decision reviews it, and we undo the decision if it was a mistake. You can also take the matter to court, or, where available, to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body.
  • Repeat infringers. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe copyright or seriously break these terms.

9. Changes and availability

We're always improving sov.gg, so features may change, be added or be removed. We aim to keep sov.gg running at all times, but can't promise it will never be unavailable, for example during maintenance. Before a change that significantly affects you, we'll let you know.

10. Ending your use

You can delete your account at any time, in the dashboard or by writing to support@sov.gg. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, where the law requires it, or where keeping it would put others or sov.gg at risk. For anything short of that, we warn you first where it's reasonable.

11. Liability

  • We're fully liable for harm we cause on purpose or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and wherever the law doesn't allow liability to be limited.
  • For simple negligence, we're liable only if we breach an obligation that's essential to sov.gg working as promised, and only for the harm that's typical and foreseeable in that case.
  • Otherwise, as far as the law allows, sov.gg is provided as it is, and we're not liable for indirect losses, lost profits, or the content of other people's profiles.
  • If you're a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away rights that the law of your country gives you and that can't be waived by contract.

12. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we tell account holders at least 30 days before the change takes effect, by email or in the dashboard. If you don't agree, you can delete your account before then. If you keep using sov.gg after the change takes effect, the new terms apply.

13. Disputes

If you're a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in its courts.

14. Authorities and points of contact

Requests from authorities. Law enforcement and other authorities can send requests to legal@sov.gg. Please identify the authority and the officer responsible, give the legal basis and scope of the request, identify the profile or content exactly, and attach the order or other legal document. We may ask to verify a request before acting on it.
